Learn to communicate in a multidisciplinary environment on discipline-bound topics:
Empathic attitude towards patients and their family
Necessary communication to gather relevant information and assess the situation, taking into account the patient’s course of life, cultural background, religion and major life events
Open attitude towards health care providers team members and colleagues
Informed consent towards the patient and their family regarding the treatment, check to what extent the provided information is understood
Specific aspects of communication on therapy-limiting measures and death
WORKING METHODS
Multidisciplinary discussion: 3x/week (2h of multidisciplinary discussion with the participating therapists)
Evening seminars: 1x/month, 2h
Daily room tour: 2h
Weekly room tour with whole department: 2h
Supervised consultation
Discussions with the family and health care providers concerning the “return home or home-replacing situation”
OLR 4: Can communicate correctly with a patient and his/her environment in a humane and empathic way, taking into account the ethical, social and multicultural aspects (diversity) and within the relevant legislation (C)
OLR 5: Can communicate efficiently with and report medical/scientific information to colleagues and other professionals (C)
