Course Content

Learn to communicate in a multidisciplinary environment on discipline-bound topics: 

  • Empathic attitude towards patients and their family 

  • Necessary communication to gather relevant information and assess the situation, taking into account the patient’s course of life, cultural background, religion and major life events 

  • Open attitude towards health care providers team members and colleagues 

  • Informed consent towards the patient and their family regarding the treatment, check to what extent the provided information is understood 

  • Specific aspects of communication on therapy-limiting measures and death

WORKING METHODS 

  • Multidisciplinary discussion: 3x/week (2h of multidisciplinary discussion with the participating therapists) 

  • Evening seminars: 1x/month, 2h 

  • Daily room tour: 2h 

  • Weekly room tour with whole department: 2h 

  • Supervised consultation 

  • Discussions with the family and health care providers concerning the “return home or home-replacing situation”
