Learn to communicate in a multidisciplinary environment on discipline-related topics:
Empathic attitude towards the patient and their family
Necessary communication to gather relevant information and assess the situation, taking into account the patient’s course of life, social and cultural background, religion and major life events
Open attitude towards healthcare providers, team members and colleagues
Specific aspects of ‘bad-news-conversations’ with special attention to the experience from the patient’s/family’s point of view and assessing wishes, questions and the need for information.
Informed consent towards the patient and their family regarding the treatment, check to what extent the provided information is understood.
Implementation of possibilities to communicate with an unwilling patient; rights of an unwilling patient’s family.
Specific aspects of communication on therapy-limiting measures and on the end of life with special attention to the experience from the patient’s/family’s point of view and assessing wishes, questions and the need for information.
Communication and knowledge on specific aspects of patient rights and legislation concerning unwilling patients.
