Study of specific translation problems in translation from Dutch into French and from French into Dutch; translation of texts from Dutch into French and from French into Dutch; contrasting analysis of the difficulties involved; listening and written exercises (e.g. transcriptions of radio and TV broadcasts); vocabulary exercises. During the classes, students will also perform listening and oral exercises (some examples are paraphrasing, translating instantaneously from the page, preparing an oral summary of a text, public speaking) as a preparation for and in support of written translation activities.

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 60% of the final mark.

Students will need to successfully pass all parts of the course: viz. the permanent evaluation, the preliminary examination in January and the written exam in June. If a student has passed all parts of the course, the final mark in the first examination session will correspond to the total average of all parts. If a student scores less than 10/20 for at least one part of the course, the lowest mark obtained will be entered as final mark. In that case, a written exam will be held in the second examination session for all parts for which the student scored less than 10/20 during the first examination session. For the permanent evaluation component, the exam includes exercises to be done at home.The final mark in the second examination session will correspond to the total average of the part(s) for which the student may have passed in the first examination period and the part(s) for which a written exam was held during the second session. If a student again scores less than 10/20 for at least one part of the course, the lowest mark obtained will be entered as final mark.
