Additional info

For safety measures, students who participate in the practical courses of “Cell and organ physiology” are required to provide proof of protection against hepatitis B, before the start of the practical courses. If the blood-test reveals the presence of an inadequate quantity of protecting antibodies, (re)vaccination should take place at least 2 weeks before the start of the practical courses. Both the withdrawal of blood, and the vaccination itself, have to take place at the service of occupational medicine ‘Attentia’, at campus Jette (annick.thomas@attentia.be).

There is no syllabus, but there is a manual that will be used during the course: "Lippincott's Illustrated Reviews: Physiology."

Furthermore, some additional parts are discussed during the lectures. In that case there will be electronic notes made available on PointCarré
Learning Outcomes

General Competentions

Students taking the course "physiology of the cell bodies "  know the normal functioning of the human body (cells, tissues and organs). They know how the functions of the various tissues and organs are regulated. They have knowledge and understanding of the integrated functioning of tissues and organs in the human body and the systems that underlie it or from it.

They can associate a deviation and the action taken by an organ / body to correct the deviation.

They can apply this knowledge to simple clinical problems.

Deel EHBO

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 80% of the final mark.
PRAC Lab Work determines 20% of the final mark.
