The seminar explores advanced theories, practices and/or methods in the domain of urban studies. Within this broad domain, precise topics and foci can differ each year and are proposed by the course coordinator. The seminar takes place at the VUB or one of the programme’s associated partners (in Brussels, Belgium or abroad) and will mostly involve co-teaching and co-organization with external partners or visiting fellows
In order to be admitted to this course unit, students need to submit a motivation e-mail to and get approval from the course coordinator. On the basis of this motivation students are selected. The MSc in Urban Studies programme coordinator gives final approval to the selection

If the seminar is organized at the VUB, the VUB course coordinator is directly involved in the grading and the regular VUB rules are followed. If the seminar is organized at a partner institution, the grade is transferred to the VUB taking into account the rules of international equivalence of grading systems
