Course Content

The lecture (HOC) focuses on the history of French literature, from the Middle Ages till the 20th century.

For the practical part (SELF), the student reads an anthology of literary texts (requested) and 10 masterpieces of the French literature (from a list).

General competencies

The students are able to situate the most important events of the French literary history.

The students are able to recognize, identify and explain the specificity of an author or a literary current.

 
 

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 60% of the final mark.
Other Exam determines 40% of the final mark.

Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • written exam with a relative weight of 60 which comprises 60% of the final mark.

    Note: De docent houdt op het examen rekening met de taalkennis, overeenstemmend met het taalverwervingsniveau dat verwacht wordt verworven te zijn, en sanctioneert fouten wanneer deze zich voordoen. Het verwachte taalkennisniveau, en het daaraan gekoppelde aantal en type van aanvaardbare taalfouten, varieert uiteraard naargelang het studiejaar.

The final grade is composed based on the two following categories:

1. A Written Examination (60% of the final mark)

- A written examination consisting of main questions and additional questions.

- All the chapters of the syllabus will be investigated.

2. A permanent evaluation of the lecture part (40% of the final mark)

- A permanent evaluation during the exercices (WPO).

Additional information regarding evaluation :

- Students must participate in both parts of the evaluation in order to obtain a pass mark for the whole course.
- Students have to succeed in both parts of the evaluation process to obtain a pass mark for the whole course.
- Students who fail to participate in both parts of the evaluation process automatically are marked as « absent ».
- Students can transfer to the next exam session the results of those parts of the evaluation process for which they have obtained a pass mark.
- The level of the French proficiency is the level that is determined by TALK for the second Bachelor in French.
