Course Content

Excursions are a crucial element of an urban studies programme.
Students will visit important cities and urban projects in Europe and gain hands-on experience of urban issues discussed during the lectures and  seminars of the other courses in the programme. Each excursion includes a preparation seminar and preparatory reading, followed by empirical work (observations, interviews, text and visual analyis, …) during the excursion.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Other Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the Other Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Other Exam with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 100% of the final mark.

Additional info regarding evaluation

Students will be evaluated on the basis of preparatory work, their performance during the excursion and/or the submission of a final report. Partial marks for the preparatory and final reports are transferred to the resit period. The student can relinquish partial marks, provided she/he reports this to the course coordinator not later than August 15. No transfer of partial marks to the next academic year is possible. Physical attendance during the excursion is required; no attendance will be marked as 0.
