This is an interactive and practical introduction to historical practices that aims to prepare students for independent research. The lessons will provide an overview of historical approaches and quantitative and qualitative methods. In addition, students will bring their knowledge into practice in a range of assignments, through with they will learn to recognise, analyse and report on specific historical methods.

Students can:
-recognise, name and critically evaluate specific historical research methods in a historical study
-link research methods with broader research traditions and historiographical approaches
-name qualitative and quantitative methods and can name the advantages and disadvantages of specific approaches
-describe a historical method in detail, analyse it and argue for a specific approach
-critically reflect on central issues in historical research, such as the idea of objectivity, historical truth and interpretation etc.
