Inhoud

This course provides a hands-on introduction to the analysis of literary prose (narratology), poetry, drama, theatrical performance and film. The term 'text' is seen in its broadest sense and each teaching team member discusses ways of approaching and analyzing texts in form and meaning.

General Competences

The students know different methods for analyzing texts (prose, poetry, drama, theater, film) and can critically estimate the advantages and disadvantages of a chosen method. The students are also able to apply these approaches autonomously in text analysis.

De beoordeling bestaat uit volgende opdrachtcategorieën:

Binnen de categorie Examen Schriftelijk dient men volgende opdrachten af te werken:

Written exam met een wegingsfactor 1 en aldus 100% van het totale eindcijfer.

There are two evaluation moments: a non-compulsory midterm test and an exam. Students who obtain a pass mark (at least 50%) for the midterm test need not study this part of the course material again; their results (40% of the total grade) are automatically retained for the exam. Students who do not participate in or fail the midterm test are (re)examined about this part of the course material during the exam. This applies both to the exam in January and in case students take the exam during the second exam period in August/September.

1st period (January) evaluation = midterm test + exam

Passed midterm test = exemption for that part. Grade = midterm test (40%) + exam (60%)
Failed/not participated midterm test. Grade = exam whole course (100%)

2nd period (August/September) evaluation = midterm test + exam

Passed midterm test = exemption for that part. Grade = midterm test (40%) + exam (60%)
Failed/not participated midterm test. Grade = exam whole course (100%)
