Course Content

The course mainly consists of an historical survey of Spanish literature from the Middle Age to the nineteenth century. In view of the extent of the subject matter, a selection of authors and works is made. Selected texts are analyzed in class.

Learning Outcomes

General competencies

The student identifies and describes the main periods of Spanish literature from the medieval period to the 19th century, analyzes and interprets Spanish literary texts, uses appropriate literary concepts and terms, and establishes connections between the different literary periods of Spanish literature.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 80% of the final mark.
PRAC Practical Assignment determines 20% of the final mark.

Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

Schriftelijk examen with a relative weight of 80 which comprises 80% of the final mark.

Within the PRAC Practical Assignment category, the following assignments need to be completed:

Praktijkopdracht with a relative weight of 20 which comprises 20% of the final mark.

Additional info regarding evaluation

The practical assignment component cannot be transferred to the second session.
