Course Content

Prevention of Sports Injuries aims to enable the PG SK to independently draw up a prevention plan within a sport of their choice. First, a number of theoretical concepts are taught, dealing with different prevention models and the scientific concepts that shape the prevention of sports injuries. The PG SK is taught by national and international experts in the field of prevention of sports injuries, but also by experts from the field who apply these insights daily in their work environment.

Topics that will be discussed include "Exercise is medicine", "Sport-specific versus injury-specific prevention", "Implementation of prevention programmes", "Taping of sports injuries", "Illness prevention and the role of exercise", "Movement analysis" and its application in different sports, "The role of data in injury prevention".

The PG SK is assessed on the basis of an examination task in which he works out a prevention plan within a sport of his choice and discusses its applicability within his current (or future) work situation. The approval of the subjects is done in consultation with the holders.
