Course Content
Theoretical aspects of experiential learning through "sport-plus" and life skills sports coaching ('Sport-for-Development' training and coaching). There is a particular focus on working from a social (sports) scientific multidisciplinary perspective (such as sociology, educational sciences: pedagogy / adult education, psychology)
Insight into and analysis of training and coaching methods within (inter)national 'Sport-for-Development' practices
Designing, executing and reporting sport-plus training sessions in specific sports for selected (inter)national Sport-for-Development organizations (assignment in the context of CERL)

Upon completion of the course, the student will:
  • have insight into the most important theoretical aspects of 'Sport-for-Development' training and coaching
  • have insight in and be able to analyse the approach of training and coaching within (inter)national 'Sport-for-development' practices
  • be able to develop, execute and report sport-plus training sessions in specific sports for selected (inter)national 'Sport-for-Development' organisations

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 30% of the final mark.
Practical Exam determines 60% of the final mark.
Other Exam determines 10% of the final mark.

Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • written exam with a relative weight of 30 which comprises 30% of the final mark.

Within the Practical Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • practical exam with a relative weight of 60 which comprises 60% of the final mark.

Within the Other Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • other exam with a relative weight of 10 which comprises 10% of the final mark.

Additional info regarding evaluation
  • The written exam covers the theoretical aspects of experiential learning through "sport-plus" and life skills sports coaching, as well as the understanding and analysis of training and coaching approaches within national and/or international Sport-for-Development practices.
  • The practical exam includes designing, executing and reporting sport-plus training sessions in specific sports for selected Sport-for-Development organisations.
  • The 'other' exam relates to the assessment of the assignment by coordinators of selected (inter)national Sport-for-Development organisations.
All parts of the exam must be completed.
In the case of a second examination period, the practical exam will be organised in an alternative manner if it is necessary to deviate from conducting a sport-plus training session.
