Course Content

'Academische taalbeheersing Nederlands 2' builds on the first bachelor course 'Academische taalbeheersing Nederlands 1' with a unique focus on academic writing. Throughout the year, students write and rewrite multiple texts. Students read texts written by their peers and provide feedback. Students are also expected to rewrite their own work on the basis of feedback provided by peers and tutor. Assignments aim to connect with the expectations of the second bachelor Dutch language programme.

Within the academic writing style, students try to develop their own style and flow. Attention is paid to clear and concise formulations, as well as a coherent development of the text. Students receive further training in the use of sources and the referencing style of APA. The use of AI and other digital tools is also dealt with.

- Obtaining a passing grade for 'Academische taalbeheersing Nederlands 2' does not imply that the student has acquired the unique goals of 'Academische taalbeheersing Nederlands 1'. 

- Lesson materials will be provided during the lessons and/or via the online learning platform. A substantial part of the materials consists of texts written by the students.

- The student can write an academic text in clear and concise language with a logical structure and sound argumentation.

- The student can search for relevant sources and can correctly refer to sources according to APA.

- The student can read texts written by fellow students and give constructive feedback to fellow students.

- The student can deal with AI and other digital tools purposefully. 

- The student has the know-how to independently answer language questions through research and knows how to consult relevant reference works.

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Other Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the Other Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Permanente evaluatie with a relative weight of 100 which comprises 100% of the final mark.

- Students are expected to complete all assignments. Students who complete less than 75% of the assignments will be referred to the second exam session.
