3 ECTS credits
84 u studietijd
Aanbieding 1 met studiegidsnummer 1024060BNR voor alle studenten in het 1e semester met een verdiepend bachelor niveau.
Together with “Human-Computer Interaction”, this forms a course series in which students
will be introduced to the general principles of Interaction Design for digital as well as
physical products, including different tools and methods for the requirements analysis,
prototyping as well as evaluation. Thereby, a special focus will be on user-centred design
where users are involved early in the design process and provide feedback during multiple
iterations of the Interaction Design Lifecycle model.
In this (second) part, we will focus more on the AI aspects in interaction design and
human-computer interaction, including topics such as implicit human-computer interaction,
affective computing and how to design experiences for AI. We will investigate very recent
guidelines for human-AI interaction (e.g. see paper on ‘Guidelines for Human-AI Interaction’
1 presented at CHI 2019) and have a look at the User-Context Perception Model (UCPM) and
how the potential awareness mismatch can have a negative impact on the user experience.
We will further discuss the important topic of intelligibility in human-AI interaction and have
a look at various use cases. There will be a course assignment where students can apply the
different phases of the Interaction Design Lifecycle model as well as apply some of the
guidelines for human-AI interaction.
