Lecture:
The lectures provide an introduction to inorganic chemistry.
Practical exercises:
In the practical exercise sessions students solve problems under supervision. The selected problems are a direct application of knowledge and concepts gained in the lectures.
Description tutoring: after class, by appointment or via e-mail.
Organisation of the lessons:
Lecture: The lectures are organised according the 'flipped classroom' principle:
1) All lectures are available as a video recording on Canvas
2) Students view certain video recordings beforehand, according to instructions in the learning guide on Canvas
3) During joint sessions with the lecturer, the subject matter is treated interactively and, where necessary, further explained or deepened.
Practical excercises:
1) The students make the exercises available via Canvas at home. Explanations of these exercises are usually available on paper or via recording (also via Canvas).
2) During the sessions, the students make some new exercises (of exam level). Students can also ask questions about other exercises here.
3) The lecturer guides the students to the right solution at their own pace.

Lecture and Practical exercises:
During the 6th or 7th week of the academic year a test exam is held, covering a part of the syllabus (subject matter to be communicated via Canvas). This test exam is analogous in style and level to the exam in January, and consists for 50% of theory questions and 50% of exercises. When achieving a result of less than 7 out of 20 on one of the parts (theory or exercises), then the lowest number becomes the final result for this test exam.
The theory questions are asked as multiple choice questions. The theory part will be graded with a Higher Pass Mark. Further clarification on this will be communicated via the learning platform.
This test exam counts for 20% of the total points for chemistry and the subject matter covered in the test exam is omitted for the exam in January. In case of a second examination for chemistry (i.e. August - September) the entire course material must be known.
