The goal of this course is to introduce students to different types of scientific data and teach them to manipulate this data and visualize it in the dynamic programming environment of R.

General competencies

  • The student is familiar with various formats for data storage.
  • The student can import and manipulate data in the R programming environment.
  • The student can create various basic plots in R, including scatterplots, boxplots, barplots, and heatplots.
  • The student can customize the formatting of plots to make them suitable for professional use in reports and publications.
  • The student can perform a series of basic statistical tests in R (t-test, correlation, regression), choose an appropriate visualization, and interpret the results.

  • Permanent evaluation met een wegingsfactor 1 en aldus 100% van het totale eindcijfer.

Permanent evaluation (100%). Each session must be attended to pass this course. One unjustified absence automatically results in a final score for this course of a maximum of 8 out of 20. Only in the case of justified absence can the missed session be made up for or an alternative task discussed with the instructor. Since the course has continuous evaluation, there is no second exam session available for this course.

 

At the end of each session, activities will be assessed. This evaluation may, for example, consist of an online multiple-choice test on the performed operations and analyses or the submission of created figures. A score out of 20 will be calculated for each of the sessions. The final grade for this course is the average of these scores.
