Enrolling for this plan is also possible having completed the Preparatory Programme Master of Science in Electrical Engineering.
The standard track in the Joint Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (120 ECTS) consists out of 5 modules:
1) Common compulsory courses (47 ECTS)
2) Compulsory/Elective courses in year 1 (13 ECTS)
3) One compulsory, masterspecific option package (1 set to accomplish out of 3 sets provided, 24 ECTS each)
4) Free elective courses and/or an internship (12 ECTS)
5) Master Thesis Electronics and IT-Engineering (24 ECTS)
Each of the modules should be succesfully completed to obtain the master degree. The student should respect the specified registration requirements. The educational board strongly suggests the student to follow the standard learning track. Only this model track can guarantee a timeschedule without overlaps of the compulsory course units.
In total, this academic plan comprises 120 ECTS credits.
Students registered in the 1st year of the master programme have to complete 56 ECTS of common compulsory courses.
Remark: 'Operating Systems and Security': this course is offered in 2 versions, a 1st semester version and a year version. Master students in Electrical Engineering are only allowed to enroll for the 1st semester version, with catalog number 4011247EER.

Students registered in the 2nd year of the master programme have to select: one package of compulsory courses, a number of elective courses and/or an intership, and a master thesis.
This module includes three option packages. The students have to select one of them.
Option 1: Nano-, Opto-electronics and Embedded Systems
Students registered in the 2nd year of the master programme who select option 1, have to complete 24 ECTS of compulsory courses from option package 1.
From the courses listed below, students must obtain 24 ECTS credits.
Option 2: Information and Communication Technololgy Systems
Students registered in the 2nd year of the master programme who select option 2, have to complete 24 ECTS of compulsory courses from option package 2.

Option 3: Measuring, Modelling and Control
Students registered in the 2nd year of the master programme who select option 3, have to complete 24 ECTS of compulsory courses from option package 3
From the courses listed below, students must obtain 24 ECTS credits.
Students registered in the 2nd year of the master programme have to select a number of elective courses. Students can also choose one of the Internships (6 or 10 ECTS) as part of their electives. The student has to complete 12 ECTS of electives from the list mentioned below.

The Master Thesis (24 ECTS) is compulsory. Registration for the Master Thesis is allowed provided that
1. the student doesn't have a combined bachelor-master enrollment
2. the student has already successfully accomplished 45 ECTS of compulsory courses of the master program (exemptions included).
