CONTENT :A first part will be dealing with general aspects of plant disease including an introductory chapter, pathogen attack versus plant defense mechanisms, genetics of plant disease, environmental effects on plant diseases, epidemiology and control of plant diseases. In the second part a selection of specific diseases caused by pathogenic fungi, bacteria and viruses will be highlighted.
Students have to read a number of book chapters on beforehand. During the lectures, answers are given to issues that are not clear or incompletely understood and supplementary information is given by the lecturer.
Self study: students have to read in advance specific chapters clearly indicated before every course (further clarified during the courses) and on which questions will be asked during the examination

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 100% of the final mark.
Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:
EVALUATION PROCEDURE : Written preparation, followed by oral examination of the indicated book chapters and related explanations during the lectures.
