BASIC PRINCIPLES OF PHYSIOTHERAPY
HOC: Introduction of the physiotherapy profession and rehabilitation in general, the health profile, clinical reasoning, fear-avoindance model, soft tissue techniques including joint mobilisation, the role of illness beliefs and illness perceptions in the physiotherapy profession, patient communication skills (during assessment and treatment). PRA: The practicals entails skills training in clinical reasoning, inspection (analytic and functional), basic communication skills during evaluation of patients, basic communication skills during treatment, case studies etc.
SELF: An assignment addressing the role of illness perceptions should be completed on an individual basis and should be delivered digitaly on the first Sunday of December.
EPIDEMIOLOGY OF HEALTH CARE: introduction about epidemiology, definitions and prevention. In the second part each disease and pathology will be illustrated with specific cases in order to help the future physical therapist understand his/her role in the treatment strategy.
It is not obliged, but highly recommend to attend the lectures and practicals. Elite athletes that cannot attend all practicals should coordinate their attandence, and possible solutions for non-attandance to practicals, at the start of the semester in close collaboration with the department ‘Topsport & Studie’.
Students are obliged to adhere to the group layout for the practicals. Students that do not adhere to the group layout will not be allowed to the practicals.

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 80% of the final mark.
Other Exam determines 20% of the final mark.

Part Basic principles of physiotherapy: written examination (40% of the total score).
Part Epidemiology: written examination (40%).
Practical inspection: written examination (10%).
Assignment patient communication & illess perceptions (10%).
If the assignment is not handed in in time, you will be excluded from participation from the first session (i.e., exclusion from the first exam period for this educational part), and your total score for this educational part will be 0/20 in the first session.
Subscores of at least 10/20 will be transferred automatically to the second exam period, but cannot be transferred to the next academic year.
