Linear regression, robust methods

Exercises will be made on these topics using statistical software as SPSS (PASW).
An assignment will be given: the students biology/geography have to solve a biological/geographical statistical problem. This assignment is compulsory and will be discussed during the oral examination.

Learning Outcomes

Algemene competenties

The objective of the course is to familiarize the student with statistical techniques, used in geography. The student has to be able to apply these techniques with statistical software and he has to be able to interpret the results.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 60% of the final mark.
Practical Exam determines 40% of the final mark.

Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • oral exam with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 60% of the final mark.

    Note: Mondeling examen met schriftelijke voorbereiding.

Within the Practical Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • discussion of asignement with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 40% of the final mark.

    Note: De examenopdracht zal besproken worden.
