The course will discuss a number of articles on early medieval cities and trading places. A list of these articles will be available on Canvas.
Students who wish to take this course should have the necessary understanding of the general history of the Middle Ages.
No separate classes will be arranged for working students for this elective unit.
The articles which will be discussed will be announced at the start of classes.
Students will acquire an insight into the typical character of urban settlements in the first half of the Middle Ages.
The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
LEC Paper determines 100% of the final mark.
Within the LEC Paper category, the following assignments need to be completed:
a short text with a personal appreciation of the articles that were read
