Learning Outcomes

General competencies

The course aims at providing the basic skills in geographical fieldwork. During excursions the student is confronted with the problem of confronting theory (from the course on social geography) and reality.
The initial theoretical knowledge given in the introductory course on social geography is complemented with real world examples: the student learns to link field observations to theoretical concepts via abstraction.
The field work creates the skills and attitudes the student needs to analyse and solve geographical problems with spatial approach.
Techniques are provided to synthesise and report (written and orally) the findings. Functioning in a group forms another aim of this course, as well as the development of the ability of abstraction and synthesis.
