During the theoretical sessions of this course, you will be introduced to population dynamics (e.g. geographic versus ecological distance), conservation genetics and hybrid zones (e.g. unimodal versus bimodal hybrid zones). These topics are taught with European amphibians as study objects.
During practical courses, you will learn to work with several specialized software programs (e.g. EasyPop, Fstat, Geneclass, NewHybrids) by doing exercises on population dynamics. You will also learn to analyze the power of a data set using tools provided on www.congressgenetics.eu

- have an enlarged knowledge on the European herpetofauna
- have a solid knowledge on population and conservation genetics.
- be able to conduct scientific research, going from a literature study to design and implementation
- master several state of the art techniques and software on population dynamics and conservation genetics.
- present scientific results in a group and take responsibility.
