Course Content

The students carry out listening and oral exercises (e.g. paraphrasing, translating from the sheet, oral summarising and consecutive interpreting, public speaking) and gradually hone their interpreting and oral language skills. They get to know the note system for consecutive interpretation and the professional contexts of interpreting.

In order to follow this part of the course, the following costs are compulsory and additional to the invoice you received as a student from the Student Administration Centre: for material (photocopies) a minimum amount of 5 € and a maximum amount of 25 € is required. The costs are borne by the student and cannot be recovered from fellow students, the holder or the faculty. The amounts are approximate and are given as accurately as possible. Doelstellingen

- The students develop basic interpreting skills and their oral language proficiency
- The students learn about interpreting as a skill and interpreting as a profession.

Eindcompetenties

- The student has an understanding of interpreting in the broad sense and can apply a number of interpreting strategies

- At the end of the course, students will know what interpreting as a skill and interpreting as a profession entail.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Oral Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Mondeling with a relative weight of 100 which comprises 100% of the final mark.

Active cooperation during classes is compulsory and a prerequisite to take the exam.
