A standard summer course consists of an intensive program of 2 to 3 weeks around a specific theme. The main objective of this summer school is to gain experience in marine and / or lacustrine sciences and management outside the home university and in an international network of students and teachers. "Summer courses" are organized at various universities worldwide, often outside the regular academic teaching period. These international courses have the added value that students can acquire targeted knowledge through, among other things, practice-oriented courses, but also through seminars of various experts in specific disciplines related to the specific learning outcomes of the master programme.

This course allows to gain experience in an international program and is also an incentive for international mobility and networking among students.
The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Other Exam determines 100% of the final mark.
Within the Other Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:
Course specific or if not present an assignment in the form of a report including vision document plus interview about course content. The paper and interview can be organized in the form of a job or project application.
