Course Content

Pharmacy project: bachelor thesis gives students insight in pharmaceutical and medical terminology, the rational use of medicines and the different administration forms of medicines. This topic is the continuation of the competences they have already acquired in the 1st and 2nd year of the bachelor during the earlier pharmacy projects.

This study part is linked to the Bachelor's thesis: students look for a scientific paper connected to their pharmaceutical topic, write a thesis work starting from the selected paper and give a presentation on this thesis. In a portfolio, which includes a copy of their bachelor thesis, they show their knowledge and skills acquired during the previous 3 bachelor years.

Students also heve the opportunity to perform a internship abroad of one week during the period of this programm.

SELF Presentation determines 15% of the final mark.
SELF Report determines 50% of the final mark.

Within the Oral Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • Mond ex DISCUSSIE with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 35% of the final mark.

Within the SELF Presentation category, the following assignments need to be completed:

  • ZELF presentatie with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 15% of the final mark.

Additional info regarding evaluation

When a student works inadequately or the portfolio is incomplete or when the evaluation of that student is insufficient, the student has to redo the project.

The final evaluation is calculated as follows:

  1. 50%: evaluation by the promoter of the individual work (thesis) and evaluation by the project leader/promotor of the portfolio

       2. 15%: evaluation by the jury of the presentation

       3. 35%: evaluation by the jury of the discussion

The final score is the weighted average of the presentation (15%), discussion (35%) and the report (50%). When one of the partial scores equals or is below 8/20, then the final score can not be higher than the smallest partial score. In that case case the student will be send to the second examination session. A transfer of partial scores of at least 10/20 can be requested by the student.

In case the student fails, the individual work will need to be improved, the portfolio updated and occasionally also the officina work book. The student also may be asked to make a new oral presentation.

In case Pharmacy project: bachelor thesis in time does not immediately follows Pharmacy project: molecules of life, the student will be allocated to a new group and work around the topic of that group.
