Guest lectures on current legal aspects of European unification.
The course allows to deal with several EU legal aspects.
In the academic year 2021/2022, the following aspects were covered: 'The new economic governance of the European Union' (Petr Blizkovsky; three lectures); 'EU asylum and migration law' (Aniel Pahladsingh); 'Linguistic diversity and the EU internal market' (Stefaan van der Jeught); 'The European Union and sport (law)' (Niels Verborgh), 'Brexit' (Sir Jonathan Faull) and 'Primacy, national identity and the (unbearable lightness of being) constitutional courts' (Luca Prete). Also two recorded guest lectures were offered to the students: 'Brexit and the internal market' (Sir Jonathan Faull) and 'Recent case law of the European Court of Justice in the field of external relations' (Luca Prete).
The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 100% of the final mark.
Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:
Written exam with open (and possibly closed) questions. The students may use the EU Treaties during the exam. They will be informed beforehand if and which other documents may be used during the exam.
The exam questions depend on the content of the lectures.

The students may, at their request (tony.joris@vub.be), inspect the copy of their exam paper within five calendar days after the announcement of the exam results. Within the same period, they may also ask for a clarification of their exam result (see the Teaching and examination regulations).
