This course tries to frame the school guidance and counselling within the broader school support system. A brief historical survey of school guidance will be given. In this section attention will be paid to the influence of organisational, societal and scientific developments on the guidance activities. Topics: history of CLB's, diagnostic models, dyslexia, ADHD, socio-emotional problems, giftedness and social inequality.

To help students to acquire knowledge on and insight in:
- the influence of historical and scientific developments on the guidance and counselling practice,
- the restrictions which the environment can impose on guidance and counselling activities.
- Diagnostic models in use in school psychology
- new developments in which diagnosis and intervention are closely related to each other, e.g. Response to Intervention Models
- The role of evidence-based practice in counseling
- Specific themes: intelligence assessment, giftedness, ADHD, dyslexia, behavior problems, possibilities and restrictions of inclusive education, educational career.
The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 100% of the final mark.
Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:
Written exam with multiple choice questions.
