General Competencies

- You know the criminological sources the criminologist uses.
- You can find sources in a methodologically acceptable way.
- You evaluate your sources in a critical way and refer to them in a scientifically correct way.
- You can write a scientific paper in scientific Dutch language on a certain topic and conduct a study of literature in order to make a first state of the art of the issue at stake.
- Grading

with a relative weight of 1
which comprises 25% of the final mark.

which comprises 75% of the final mark.
- Additional info regarding evaluation
Quotation for this course unit consists of two parts:
- Students must write a scientific paper based on a given topic. This part counts for 75% (15/20). A note with specific guidelines will be available on Canvas and will be discussed during the lectures.
- The other 25% (5/20) will be based on the individual work-in-progress trajectory in which students will be guided during the practical lectures and exercices. Students will be assessed on their intermediate assignments and active participation during these exercices. More information about these assignments and the work-in-progress trajectory are available on Canvas.
Late submissions of the assignments can have as a consequence a reduction of marks and/or can lead to a direct transfer to the 2nd examen session.
Students who have to retake the practical exercices (WPO's) during the second session, will receive one or more assignment that they have to complete individually.
A transfer of partial grades is possible between two examination sessions, but not between two acedemic years.
- Allowed unsatisfactory mark
- The supplementary Teaching and Examination Regulations of your faculty stipulate whether an allowed unsatisfactory mark for this programme unit is permitted.
