Course Content

This course unit offers an introduction to the history of Western music. Preliminary knowledge of musical concepts is not necessary. There is a great focus on musical theatre and more specifically on the operas of W.A. Mozart. If the Corona measures allow it, three opera performances will be attended in the Koninklijke Muntschouwburg. If this is not possible live, on-line performances will be discussed.
Compositional developments, key genres and representative works are embedded in art and cultural history.
